Info about our next class:
For the Sunday beginner hour, July 13, we will be dancing:
- The Greenbelt Jig: https://my.strathspey.org/dd/dance/15279/#videos (A Lughnasa dance! No new figures, but pay attention to the timing of the 1s’ solo)
- The Deil Amang the Tailors: https://my.strathspey.org/dd/dance/1582/#videos A Lughnasa dance! Including the new-to-some-of-you figure allemande: https://www.scottish-country-dancing-dictionary.com/allemande.html)
In the second hour, experienced dancers will dance:
- The Bon Viveur (A Lughnasa dance!): https://my.strathspey.org/dd/dance/16838/#videos. Notice that this is a medley — you do it twice in strathspey time then twice in quick time. The figures you may want to brush up on are Men’s/Lark’s Chain (https://www.scottish-country-dancing-dictionary.com/mens-chain.html) and schiehallion reels (https://www.scottish-country-dancing-dictionary.com/schiehallion-reel.html)
- A Trip to Bavaria (a Lughanasa dance!): https://my.strathspey.org/dd/dance/6712/#videos. The tricky part about this is geography of the first half. I recommend picking one dancer and following them all the way through the dance
